FAQ

Do I need an account to get a YouTube transcript?

No. Paste a public YouTube link and use the tool right away—no signup or login.

Where does the transcript text come from?

We load the captions already attached to the video (auto-generated or uploaded by the creator). If a video has no captions, there is nothing to show.

Can I jump from a transcript line to that moment in the video?

Yes. On the transcript view, select a line to seek the player to that timestamp.

Can I copy the full transcript?

Yes. Use the copy controls on the transcript view to copy the text for notes, quotes, or editing elsewhere.

Does this work for private or age-restricted videos?

Only videos whose captions are publicly available will work. Private, members-only, or blocked videos usually cannot be transcribed here.
